During the cooler winter months, our bees are less active and cluster together for warmth, conserving their energy. They rely on their stored honey for food. On warmer days, when the temperature rises above 12-13 degrees Celsius, they take the opportunity to venture out and forage for pollen and nectar. Have you seen any foraging bees in your garden lately? Here’s a picture of a bee in my garden foraging on Goldfussia, which thrives in our milder winter climates. This foraging activity is crucial for the hive’s survival, ensuring that the bees remain healthy and ready for the return of spring. And by the way, have you run out of honey? We have plenty in stock!

Hey, bee lovers! The other day, we collected a large swarm of bees who were trying to set up house on a caravan. Check out this amazing photo I took of bees festooning. Festooning is when bees hang from each other to form chains or bridges. Scientists aren’t sure why they do this, but some think it helps them measure the space and build their comb. Isn't that cool? I love how they work together as a team. And don't forget, if you want some of our great-tasting honey made by these hard-working bees, you can order through Messenger. Razorback Honey is 100% natural and delicious. Try it today and support your local beekeepers!

Hi there, Razorback Honey fans!

Did you know that honey can crystallize over time, especially in colder weather? Don't worry, it's not a sign of spoilage, but a natural process that preserves the quality and flavour of your honey. And the best part is, you can easily restore your honey to its liquid state with a few simple steps.

1. Boil some water and pour into a bowl that's deep enough to accommodate the size of your honey container. Let the water cool slightly for a few minutes.

2. Pop open the lid to your honey so that it’s slightly ajar and place your honey container in the hot water. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Be careful not to get any splashes of water in your honey. Never place your honey directly on a heat source as this will get too hot and destroy the good enzymes in your honey.

3. Check the consistency of your honey and repeat the process if needed.

4. Enjoy your smooth and delicious honey!

That's it! You've just revived your honey and made it ready for your toast, tea, or baking. We hope you found this tip helpful. Stay tuned for more honey-related news and updates from Razorback Honey!

I have lots of flowers in my garden right now attracting honeybees. They love the Hebe, Buddleia, Abelia, Salvias, Borage, and Basil as well as the native Grevilleas and Bottlebrushes. I decided to plant more bee attracting flowers this spring and it’s exciting to see the bees come and visit. What plants do honeybees visit in your garden? Let us know! And do you need more honey?

We would like to give a big shout-out to Belinda and Andrew for saving the bees! They had a swarm in their front garden yesterday and called us to remove them. The bees were cooperative and settled into their swarm box despite the blustery winds we experienced. If you see a swarm in your garden, please message us and we can safely re-home them!
